Luis Santaló

Universal Mathematician

Portrait of Republican mathematician Luis Santaló (1911-2001), considered co-founder of the Integral Geometry. After the republican side lost the war, he requested asylum to France, but he was taken to a concentration camp which He left thanks to Élie Cartan, mathematician at the Sorbonne.Later he was exiled to Argentina, thanks to another great Spanish mathematician, Julio Rey Pastor. This work is inspired by a reduced colour set where yellow predominates as seen on several posters by Desiderio Babioano Lozano and on starred skies posters by Josep Bardasano and Carles Fonteseré.
